Digital Camera Flash Memory

April 4, 2006

Having just invested in the Dynax 5D, I needed to buy a useful size CF memory card. With 128MB cards from Maplin costing nearly £20, I resorted to the usual internet searches and came up with quite a few sources, most of which I had never used before.

PicstopThankfully, amongst the list of names I saw Picstop, a company I have used before and one I would be willing to recommend to anyone.

1GB Comapct Flash CardThey carry the Kinston x100 CF Ultimate 1GB card at £33 and had it on my doorstep the next day. Not only was the CF card good value, but they had an NP-400 battery equivalent for the 5D at a blinding £9.90p. (It can cost up to £45 for the Minolta original, ouch!!!)

Time for a new toy!

Dynax 5DHaving stuck with Fuji Digital cameras for years, I really hankered for a Digital SLR and although I know it has now been discontinued, I did opt to buy the excellent Konica Minolta Dynax 5D.

I have owned a Dynax 7000i 35mm SLR for years, which in its day was also a fine piece of photographic equipment, but with the ease of use of modern day digital camera equipment, it had found its way into the dark corner of my camera bag.

Then along came the 5D, which thankfully will accept the lenses I use with the old 7000i. The 7000i may now be pensioned off as a trade-in at Jessops for an extra CF card or maybe even another lens.

Anyway, sad to see that KM appear to have sold of the camera division, but great news that the buyer appears to be SONY.
